The NADAV Foundation, established in 2003 by Leonid Nevzlin and his partners, V. Dubov and M. Brudno, works to support initiatives which advance an understanding of Jewish Peoplehood, build substantive and pluralistic Jewish collective identity, and create lasting connections among Jews throughout the world.
NADAV was among the first organizations to begin researching and discussing Jewish Peoplehood. This bold, innovative concept is now becoming a dynamic paradigm shift in Jewish life, gaining increasing support in the Jewish world.
Through its activities and grants, the NADAV Foundation seeks to ensure that in the 21st century, a knowledge based sense of belonging to the Jewish people is at the core of Jewish Peoplehood. NADAV aims to promote a knowledge base rooted in thoughtful engagement with the rich cultural, religious and historical legacy of the Jewish people and a profound understanding of that.
Allowing for the expression of the many differences and great diversity among the Jewish people, we acknowledge that indeed, there is a wide variety of ways in which one can be Jewish. Peoplehood translates individual identities into the basic link to a global Jewish community, and to the eternal Jewish homeland – the State of Israel.
We believe that Jewish Peoplehood can be actively cultivated through long term educational programs and enlightening experiences, especially among the young generation. Thus, we are extremely proud that, during its first years, NADAV successfully rescued from demise and revitalized one of Israel's most important museums – Beit Hatfutsot (formerly better known as the Diaspora Museum).
The NADAV Foundation continues to lead the effort and work closely with the museum team on the building of a new museum at Beit Hatfutsot - The Museum of the Jewish People, which will celebrate the multiculturalism of Jewish diversity and adopt an inclusive, pluralistic approach. It is of particular significance that this project is endorsed and supported by the Government of Israel.
The NADAV Foundation is young, but ambitious, innovative, and confident in its mission. We will persist in encouraging a new Jewish discourse of pluralism and acceptance by supporting and developing initiatives in the field of Jewish Peoplehood, in order to ensure the future of the Jewish people and its prosperity.
