New York, December 2, 2011 – Nearly 500 guests from around New York City and the world gathered at a gala fundraising dinner to support the creation of the ‘Museum of the Jewish People’ at Beit Hatfutsot in Tel Aviv. The 2011 NADAV Peoplehood Award was presented on October 23, 2011, to Professor Yehezkel Dror and film director Joseph Cedar at a ceremony in old Jaffa with hundreds of participants in attendance. The Leonid Nevzlin Research Center for Russian & East European Jewry continues to implement Migrations Study project initiated last year. The aim of the 2-year pilot project is to reinsert the issue of migration into the study of modern Jewish history, as well as to return the study of East European Jewish migrations to the wider fields of migration and Diaspora studies. more>
